Austin Pets Alive is a thrift store whose proceeds directly support Austin Pets Alive, an animal shelter in Austin. It has five locations: 5801 Burnet, 1409 West Oltorf, 5102 Clarkson, 913 N IH-35, and 15803 Windermere. 

Austin Creative Reuse is a store in East Austin that sells donated creative materials. The shop, located at 2005 Wheless Ln, also hosts workshops and community events.

Pavement is a resale store for retail goods. The store buys, sells, and trades the products it receives in an effort to reduce garment waste. Pavement has three locations, two of which are in Austin, and they are located at 611 S Lamar Blvd and 2932 Guadalupe St. 

Austin has historically been a city of change and innovation, so Austinites have cultivated new ways to reclaim this innovation and elect to shop at one of the various stores within Austin.  

With 92 million tons of garments ending up in the landfill each year, according to Earth.org, secondhand shopping, also known as thrifting, arises as a creative way to participate in helping the environment.
